Noting the injuries this time of year becomes somewhat more important... if you're not convinced just ask the Lakers if they missed Kobe, OKC if they missed Westbrook or the Spurs if they missed a beat...
For those playoff bound teams losing a player this time of year can sometimes be worse than losing the game... who's out today?
Injuries - four today from just two teams... one isn't playoff bound but one is... fortunately for the Sonics the two players they lose are both for one game and their position is set with one to go so touch wood at full strength for their first round matchup against LAL/Cincy (tbc)

(32-50) Brooklyn Indian 28 16 32 32 - 108 (Kevin Durant 34)
(33-47) Oshkosh All Sta 31 26 36 20 - 113 (Paul Arizin 24)
Oshkosh gets a double -whammy of injuries to finish the season but they get the win and they don't care. It was a competitive game between two teams who were pretty good this year but not good enough to make the playoffs. Durantula goes off for 34 and is second in hot shots for the day, but Ruland and Lovellette doe enough inside to get the W and Pitchin' Paul scores the hoops.
(58-24) Cincinnati Roya 20 31 23 25 - 99 (Lou Hudson 24)
(21-61) Atlanta Hawks 23 28 18 18 - 87 (Hal Greer 18)
Cincy makes the race for the three seed real interesting by winning their final game of the season. They hold the tie-breaker over the Lakers so if the Lakers lose their final game the three seed goes to LA, but if the Lakers win it goes to Cincy. What's the difference? Seattle for the 3 seed and Knicks for the 4th. The twist is the Lakers final game is at home against the same Knicks they would face if they lose - double incentive for them to play the last game full out. As for my Knicks, we're prepared for a very difficult season against either - the Royals would like to get a revenge win over the Knicks for a very tight 7 game series in season 1 in the conference semis, but the Lakers are even more keen to beat the Knicks having lost the conference finals two years running in 7 brutal games. Lou Hudson is a great player who helps the Royals grind out the win over the Hawks. Cincy's defense clamped down only allowing 36 points from the Hawks in the second half.
(46-35) Seattle Superso 21 29 27 34 - 111 (Kobe Bryant 23)
(63-17) Milwaukee Bucks 25 28 28 38 - 119 (Reggie Miller 25)
The Bucks bounce back from their narrow loss in the Garden to edge out the visiting Sonics who are very happy that the season doesn't go on much longer. Just a couple of weeks ago they had a strong hold on the 5 seed and now they will just hold the 6th. The Bucks already have the most wins ever in a season eclipsing the 60 set by LA last year - with two more games to play they could get 65 wins (told you they wouldn't get 70). Only three teams have beaten the Bucks twice this season; the Knicks, the Royals and the team they may not want to face the Firestones who are the only team to have a winning record (2-0) against them. Miller continues to be an offensive force - the Sonics may have pulled off the upset but Kobe got drawn into a duel with the sharp shooter down the stretch when his legs were failing him and the Bucks get their 63rd. One more meaningless game for the Sonics as their position is set, as is Milwaukee's of course.
(36-45) Golden State Wa 25 26 30 22 - 103 (George McGinnis 28)
(29-53) Texas Chaparral 34 22 29 21 - 106 (Drazen Petrovic 23)
Season 1 champs and Season 2 runner-ups have actually exceeded expectations when you look at their roster upheaval. If you're not going to win now, prepare to win some-time in the future or at least roll the dice and that's exactly what the Chaps have done. McGinnis is still set on proving he's not a bust for the Warriors and they hope to reap the benefits over the next few seasons and get back in to contention again. Derrick Rose is the star today though and for the future if we can see him back on the court again.
(43-39) San Diego Sails 38 27 35 30 - 130 (Jack Twyman 22)
(22-59) St Louis Spirit 26 26 25 24 - 101 (Allen Iverson 23)
The Sails wrap up their very disappointing season with a win over the so-so Spirits but they already knew their fate as they can only level with the Generals but lost both meetings this year. Still a positive record, but the Sails and a much maligned Hakeem will be back next year. Where to for the Spirits? One more game this year and a long summer off again...
(43-37) Washington Gene 23 25 42 31 - 121 (Dominique Wilkins 25)
(45-37) Buffalo Braves 31 41 37 25 - 134 (John Drew 32)
The Generals have accepted 8th spot in the ABA it seems as they are now confirmed in that position. They will be looking forward to a first round matchup in Harlem (I think NY Rens are still possible, but I'm not sure as it's 2-2). The ABA is a slugfest and there will be at least a couple of upsets of the seedings in the first round as there is literally nothing between the top 8 teams in the conference. (Unlike the NBA where the top 4 teams seem so much more dominant). The Braves flat out needed and wanted this game more to secure themselves in the playoffs! 4-Braves in the top 10 today - that's a record I'm sure! The Braves looked set for a top 4 seed early in the year but faded so badly they looked lottery bound before Stokes shrugged off the Blues and Carter got white hot down the stretch. Right now they are firing on all cylinders and would be a tough out for any team in the playoffs if it wasn't for their 7th seed buying them a very tough matchup against the Firestones - the same team that beat them by 44 earlier in the season. Still the season series is 1-1 so who knows.
(25-57) Kansas City Ste 26 34 24 23 - 107 (Dan Issel 22)
(34-47) Oshkosh All Sta 17 39 23 38 - 117 (Andre Iguodala 19)
No playoffs for either team but Oshkosh finished really strong to the delight of their faithful fans.
(43-38) Indianapolis Ka 29 29 24 35 - 117 (Russell Westbrook 20)
(45-35) Denver Rockets 35 30 35 27 - 127 (Michael Jordan 26)
The Kautsky's absolutely needed the win to book their ticket in the playoffs; but the Rockets had other plans and held on to a furious finish by Westbrook and co to get win number 45. The Kautsky's sit on 38 losses as do both the Hornets and Packers below them. One to go for the Indy outfit and a half game lead on the two with 42 wins and two to go. It's as exciting a finish as we could have and will be decided on the last day in all probability. The problem is that the Kautsky's have lost tiebreak to both teams so they must win one more game than either of the other and this was one they had to have. It will be interesting how it plays out, but I think the Pack will scrape in and Wilt will taste playoffs again (although 4 games may be all he gets against his nemesis).
Oooh it's an exciting finish ahead.
Yes - did get married last week and sorry about the write-up missing but hey - didn't turn on phone or internet in Samoa ;)
