Put a fork in this series I think as the Miners will take it out in the next game at home. Sounds kept it close but couldn't close out and this, along with the loss of Love is the end methinks. Fortunately for Memphis I'm actually wrong most of the time so if they come back and win in 7 credit me here. Ewing was a monster today and kept the Sounds in it, but even with an Erving off day Scranton had (and has) their number.

If you're a Star then this is a very welcome sight in what's been a one way series to this point. Solid game by Shaq daddy and an early foul out by Hakeem = win and on the board for the Stars. I can't see them coming all the way back... but see above for my caveat on that.

Well if the Chiefs thought this was going to be easy they now know different as again the Crusaders lift their game and finish with a flurry (44 in the 4th and 88 in the second half) to put the pressure back on the home team. I always feel 2-2 puts greatest pressure on the home team (don't get me wrong it's better than the 2-3-2 format) and the next game in Hawaii will be a stonker and whoever wins it I'm pegging to take the series. How good has Charlie Scott been this year? I'm always surprised by how some of our great GMs get great things out of players I overlook - me, I need stars, but some of you are truly great at working this stuff out.

I could almost say ditto for this game (except the lower scoring in the second half) as the Rens are suddenly right back in this series. The Rens have a loaded team and I picked them to come out of the ABA this year so I was kinda hoping they would pick it up. Danno won't be pleased as it's another 3 game series with the stakes up a little higher. Good shootout today between Agent Zero and the Hawk - big fan of Hersey but Gilbert scored in bunches (although 23 shots for 33 ain't great).

Man, I'm sounding like a broken record. Man, I'm sounding like a broken record as another series ends up locked up at 2-2 after being at 2-0. Does this playoffs yet show you the importance of home court? Gilmore has played against the Lakers every playoffs so far in his 4 year career (2 wins 1 loss) so it was familiar to see him battle the twin towers to a standstill. The key matchup seems to be all about Cousy and Zeke who were traded early on this season. I'd have bet on Cousy (who funnily enough has faced Zeke in the playoffs just like Artis but always against the Lakers) but right now it looks like Isiah has the edge! How big is the Chris Webber injury? Come back in 3 games and I'll tell you... this one is going 7 I think.

Nostradamus (dumbass) that I am I told you one series would be over in 4 in the NBA conference and this was the one I had in mind. The Hornets finished really strong but I couldn't see a way for them to challenge a Seattle team that is fully loaded. I've been on the receiving end of sweeps a few times and I have to say that nothing hurts more... The Hornets have a good young roster that finished well so they'll be back (hopefully). Harden, Bird and Thurmond dominate today.
Congrats go to the Sonics who honestly have the best looking roster on paper. They'll be playing either the Packers who will push them hard or the Lakers which will be an absolute dog fight between the two Melbourners. Much as I want to see Dave and Artis push forwards, my money is on Seattle v LA in the semis.

If one series has been a surprise (albeit a pleasant one for me) it's been the Knicks and Stones. Whilst we were up 3-0 I didn't say a word in case I jinxed it because I run a fair few simulations of the series and most went to 7 games. I still have my suspicions that this series is far from over because this was not a win for Akron but a slam down of the Knics. The Stones accept that Wilt is great and going to get his but they have Mikan who can at least challenge and make him work and is an efficient big and Jerry West who the Knicks have managed to at least get close to. The big news today in the fourth quarter of the blowout where arguably some of the starters could have rested West came out complaining of a sore elbow that will, gulp, keep him out of the next game. The Knicks will be at home without West in a close out game - all that means is that the Knicks either win this in 5 (I'll take it) or more likely some unsung hero steps up (watch for Lacey and Feerick) and the momentum shifts back and the Stones take it in 7. If the Knicks win in 6 games I will eat my hat and start Calderon for the next game over Williams and Haynes. Notably none of the first four games have been close. I bet the next one is.
