I couldn't remember which day it was in UBAS so took a guess at the title and realised I was about 20 days behind the curve... damn it's February already? The pace of life seems to ever increase doesn't it? A day to a five year old seems like a month - how come a month at my age seems to flash by before I've noticed a few days (and what must it be like for Jeff?? ;)
A few injuries today including a bunch of PGs (including one of mine unfortunately).
Injuries

Terry Porter 1
Mike Green 1
Ricky Rubio 2
Bob McAdoo 2
Marc Gasol 2
(14-20) Fort Wayne Pist 23 23 28 29 - 103 (Stephon Marbury 19)
(23- 8) New York Knicks 27 32 19 23 - 101 (Wilt Chamberlain 18)
Knicks riding high having taken out the pre-season faves Akron the game before on the road travel home to face the fairly average looking Pistons and... bam! Welcome to the world of the UBAS where things are never certain and any team can beat any other team on their night if the other team doesn't bring their A-game. Tonight the Knicks had a comfortable half time lead and even felt comfy heading into the 4th - but 42 points in the second half just won't cut it. Gus Williams has been a nice stabiliser for the Knicks and when he went down at the back of the third the floor spacing went to pot and the Pistons took full advantage. Wilt pulled down rebounds at his league leading rate (22 to go with his 18 points) but his struggles at the free-throw line (just 1 of 7 in the final 10 minutes) killed the Knicks late. Rudy T came back from injury but was a step slow. Marbury was struggling early from the pressure of Williams but when Williams went down Marbury took over and with the game knotted up and 10 ticks on the clock he went to work spinning and scoring a mid-range J over the arms of Tyreke Evans - game expired and the Pistons get the stunner.
(20-13) Akron Firestone 46 27 27 35 - 135 (Jerry West 29)
(17-16) Golden State Wa 28 30 25 36 - 119 (Adrian Dantley 21)
Yes the Stones aren't rolling the way we were expecting this year so far, but they still have a healthy record and there's plenty of season left. The Warriors were looking like contenders early but have slipped of late and need to recapture their Mojo to get back in the hunt. My 2nd favourite Laker of all time is Jerry West and he always comes to play - 29 today in the win.
(20-13) Hawaii Chiefs 26 32 22 21 - 101 (Cliff Hagan 21)
(16-18) Buffalo Braves 25 39 34 29 - 127 (John Drew 30)
Braves are looking to get back in the hunt and chase down the Warriors - a good home win over the Chiefs will get it done! Is Hawaii regretting trading away 'Zo? Too early to tell but they could have used the interior defense today.
(14-18) LA Stars 36 27 32 37 - 132 (Tarzan Cooper 28)
(15-18) Denver Rockets 29 26 38 30 - 123 (Michael Jordan 26)
Rockets have been grounded of late and the only Stars they're seeing are those of the opposing LA outfit as MJ's heroics fail to stop the visiting team running all over them to the tune of 132. Tarzan Cooper does most of the damage and gets awarded as the third best players in the league for tonight.
(18-16) Trenton Tigers 28 26 35 22 - 111 (Pete Maravich 29)
(12-20) Brooklyn Indian 20 27 18 23 - 88 (Kevin Durant 23)
Tigers get a quality away win at the struggling Indians. Can Durant carry this team on his own? In the NBA this season Durant has really stepped up to the next level and is challenging Lebron as the best in the game - at this point in the season he leads the MVP race by most pundits. Great to see Pistol Pete out there and firing away - the UBA leagues have not been friendly to the Pistol but today he gets it done.
(11-21) Dayton Metropol 24 33 26 22 - 105 (Al Green 17)
(27- 6) Milwaukee Bucks 35 34 33 33 - 135 (Reggie Miller 41)
The Bucks of the UBAS are the Rockets of the UBAL and are racing away with the regular season and have a healthy lead on the chasing pack of LA and NY. Reggie Miller does what Reggie does to the total of 41 points with three triples and a perfect 14-14 from the line. No answer in Metropolis.
(11-22) Chicago Gears 31 23 24 24 - 102 (David West 22)
(15-19) Original Celtic 25 32 31 38 - 126 (Clifford Robinson 21)
Good home win for the Original Celtics - a respectable record and with a push they could be looking like a .500 team - in the ABA that means a shot at the playoffs. No such aspirations for Chicago who started the first quarter well but faded quickly in this one.
(22-12) New York Rens 43 26 27 32 - 128 (Gilbert Arenas 21)
( 6-27) Kansas City Ste 19 34 18 35 - 106 (Walter Davis 18)
It's a Nige write up so that means the Rens win. I'll continue to say they'll come out of the ABA (but they won't beat the team put forward by the NBA). Arenas again fills up the scoresheet whilst the plethora of 3s and 4s dominate the Steers.
(24-10) Chicago Crusade 25 27 37 34 - 123 (Charlie Scott 33)
(14-20) Harlem Globetro 17 36 41 28 - 122 (Michael Finley 28)
Globies were really starting to find some form and a nice home win over ABA leading Crusaders would have been nice.... and it was so close too! Michael Finley has been playing well of late and his late jumper put the home town Harlem outfit up by 1 with just 5 on the clock. A quick fire shot by Spencer Haywood rolled around and whilst everyone was watching big Bill Walton took it off the rim and put it back up for the W. Another home town silenced at the buzzer and the Crusaders ran off the court and into the tunnel before the Globies knew what had hit them.
