I'm sick of hospitals guys, and I bet loads of you share this emotion! It's bad enough having to go visit your dad daily in one, but yesterday my 99 (yes you read that right) year old nan decided to take a swan dive in the nursing home and she's now in the same hospital as my dad! Very handy for visiting but damn, enough eh? One of my dad's friends was visiting yesterday too - she's had 5 strokes in the past few years - not funny at all.
Injuries
Jerome Kersey 1
Jrue Holiday 1
Caldwell Jones 4
(16-18) Chicago Bulls 29 32 33 31 - 125 (Dirk Nowitzki 28)
(13-20) Portland Trailb 33 29 23 29 - 114 (Sam Jones 22)
Chicago Bulls may look like a down year compared to their history, but this has been an impressive campaign for a rebuilt squad. The trade to bring Nowitzki in was a great one for the Bulls and he'll be the face of the franchise along with some stellar young guards... TB season has been disappointing thus far and not showing signs of changing any time soon... Dirker has been hot recently 28 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists will get it done!
(22-11) Syracuse Nation 25 27 32 12 - 96 (Harry Gallatin 16)
(12-21) Denver Nuggets 33 15 29 25 - 102 (Connie Hawkins 23)
Syracuse have been cementing themselves as a contender, but as I always say in these leagues road wins don't come easy - certainly Denver proves the point behind the top play of Connie Hawkins. Both Lebron and Oscar were mediocre by their standards and only Gallatin came to play 16 pts and 20 rebounds to his name.
(17-17) Boston Celtics 32 28 23 28 - 111 (Scottie Pippen 24)
( 7-26) Carbondale Aces 36 24 21 28 - 109 (Kenny Anderson 21)
Celtics have been rolling of late and are right back at .500. Dwayne Wade, Bill Russell were both a little off but up steps super side-kick Scottie Pippen to save the day and steal what would have been win number 8 for the Aces. Kenny with 21 and 11 assists, Pekovic with an impressive double-double but not quite enough as they couldn't quite close the gap and actually never had a shot at the win despite the two-point differential as Anderson drilled a meaningless long bomb at the buzzer.
(17-16) Philadelphia 76 25 20 27 27 - 99 (Bob McAdoo 22)
(23-11) Washington Wiza 24 24 38 36 - 122 (Neil Johnston 27)
Washington are as hot as anyone not named Rockets at the moment and dominate the second half of this one against a useful 76er side that has its own playoff ambitions. Neil Johnston is on form with another strong scoring outing (27 today), but it was Nash (24pts and 11 dimes) that led the charge and kept the game and pace out of Philly's reach.
(24-10) New Orleans Jaz 38 32 26 29 - 125 (WorldB Free 22)
(16-19) Toronto Raptors 24 23 20 28 - 95 (Kevin Durant 25)
Jazz right the ship and unleash World domination on the Raptors in front of a disappointed Canadian crowd. Behind World, Sid the Squid and even Ibaka chipped in points for the Jazz as the Raps gave up at the half... Durant as always was solid for Toronto.
(13-20) Minnesota Muski 25 31 31 29 - 116 (Kiki Vandeweghe 24)
(10-24) Phoenix Suns 32 24 31 32 - 119 (Elton Brand 40)
Let's rave about this one for Phoenix as they notch the double-figure victories for the year. Narrow win against a Minnesota team that's hot and cold, but it took a massive 40 points and player of the day honours for Elton Brand (not to mention his 14 boards and 8 assists). Then it also took 20 points on 7 of 8 shooting (and 10 assists) from Brent Barry (number 2 on the charts today) to scrape a 3 point win at home! But hey a win is a win and the Crowd in Phoenix loved every second. Kiki deserves a shout out for his hot shooting again with a hot-shot worthy effort of 24 and 9 rebs.
(11-23) Oklahoma City T 24 33 21 34 - 112 (Tom Heinsohn 17)
(14-19) Pittsburgh Cond 17 26 33 30 - 106 (Monta Ellis 20)
OKC will like this effort and away win over the Condors - as I said earlier, you always take away wins in the UBAL. Tommy Hensohn is an unusual name to pop up in our top scorer column, but 17 is all it took today for the Thunder in what we usually call a team effort :)
(16-17) San Diego Qs 21 32 27 33 - 113 (Elgin Baylor 24)
(20-14) Dallas Chaparra 36 13 35 32 - 116 (Walter Budko 32)
Speaking of unusual heroes, up steps Walter Budko to number 4 in the hotshots and a wicked array of shots on his way to 32 points. Two close rivals in Dallas and San Diego had a close battle in the fourth after an early see-saw encounter (15 point Dallas advantage after one, 19 point swing after two to a narrow Q lead). A decent outing by Kobe probably would have stolen the game for the Qs and inched them closer to the Chaps, but it wasn't to be and Dallas took the win happily despite their heavily depleted roster; no Jerry West and half the frontline too...
(10-24) Indiana Pacers 29 23 25 25 - 102 (George Yardley 22)
(25- 9) Orlando Magic 28 36 34 28 - 126 (Richie Guerin 22)
Blowout win to end the day and it was all Magic! The Magic have really performed extraordinarily well in the early going and Richie Guerin is an unsung hero for them. Love Grant Hill; made for UBA basketball... if only those injuries hadn't cut out the mid-part of his career...
