Anyone else notice how quickly a week rolls around? Actually make that a month, year, decade... The theory of relativity is well known (well, amongst physicists at least) in that when you go faster it has an affect on time (yes time really is relative). There's another theory I have about the relativity of time and that's simply that time is relative to your life. At a young age an hour is a heck of a long time because taken in reference against your short life so far it really is a significant amount. By the time your reach 24 a day is the same sort of equivalent an hour was when you were young. The scary thing is that in this model as you get older, time goes quicker and quicker. It's a bit like jumping out of an aircraft (maybe I shouldn't say this as I'm currently above our fair isle on a flight to the nation's capital) - terminal velocity indeed!
Anyway, all that to one side, it's my write up again (hence the week type thing)... let's do it...
Injuries

Maurice Stokes 2
Glen Rice 1
(22-24) San Diego Sails 25 20 24 30 - 99 (Jack Twyman 29)
(21-25) Fort Wayne Pist 26 30 25 29 - 110 (Kiki Vandeweghe 23)
I don't really understand why the Pistons are a sub .500 team this year, they look pretty decent to me but they simply aren't ticking and if they don't start making more games like this one soon they won't be in the playoff hunt come June. The enigmatic (I forgot the other 'r' word) Sails have looked better but still are meandering just below the surface. Good win for FWP, can they build on it? Kareem hopes so... he was as good as ever today.
(28-19) Philadelphia Sp 32 21 31 24 - 108 (David Thompson 27)
(26-21) Denver Rockets 31 28 33 21 - 113 (Bob McAdoo 35)
Rockets and Sphas are close rivals in the ABA and both teams wanted this one in a hard-fought contest. Bob McAdoo has given the Rockets a great starting 5 and today he and Michael paired perfectly (they even scored the same in Hot Shots) to just put them over the Philadelphia visitors. DT bounced around a bit and seems to have found a home in Philly - but can his scoring translate into title aspirations? They still sit pretty with a very solid 28-19 record int he ABA.
(26-19) Harlem Globetro 31 30 26 23 - 110 (Dwight Howard 18)
(21-25) Indianapolis Ka 31 24 30 32 - 117 (Brandon Roy 27)
I have the Kautskys down as a better team too, but they seem to win some lose some more and never quite break in to the playoff picture. Brandon Roy is a great UBAS guard but only for a short time before knees give out. The Globies have been playing great ball recently but when Dwight is your leading scorer with 18 that's a poor sign. Close game through three quarters was blown open when Roy caught fire late and the 'Trotters ran out of puff. Larry Bird played well and has not liked the talk about how ineffective he has been this year
(18-27) Oshkosh All Sta 30 19 28 20 - 97 (Jeff Ruland 16)
(26-20) Washington Gene 29 29 24 35 - 117 (Dwyane Wade 31)
Perhaps the greatest single addition to a team this year was Dwayne Wade added by the Generals, the Washington outfit were looking good early on then added Wade, went on a tear but recently... they're looking good not great, they'll happily take a solid home win over a so-so Oshkosh team. Wade was the man today, but do he and Wilkins get along? Today they do to the tune of 51 and this team will be better next year and the year after and...
( 8-39) Atlanta Hawks 27 22 16 36 - 101 (Willis Reed 20)
(17-30) Golden State Wa 23 24 19 33 - 99 (George McGinnis 27)
Atlanta were heavily criticised for their trading of DWade but today they notch an impressive away win over the disappointing Warriors. Away wins in UBA leagues are hard to get so any one against any opponent is a good win in my books - when you only have 7 wins total at this point of the season it's amazing. No stand-out performances, but solid play from Reed and the Hawks earns them this one.
(27-19) New York Knicks 34 23 26 21 - 104 (Max Zaslofsky 22)
(20-27) Buffalo Braves 23 18 31 18 - 90 (Clark Kellogg 28)
As I said any away win is a good one, the Braves have been a real mixed bag this year but they are definitely a dangerous team with some awesome weapons like Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and Mo Stokes - unfortunately Stokes hobbled off the court late in the fourth and will miss the next couple. The Braves were led by former Knick Clark Kellog and his 28 points, Kellogg shook hands with his fellow Champion Knicks prior to tip off embracing team captains Cousy and Gilmore who he formed strong bonds with over the first two seasons of the league. The Knicks welcomed back Rick Barry and were pleased not only with his high efficiency 14 points in 18 minutes on 6 of 9, pressure defence and general court play, but also because he left the court intact and ready to play the next game too!
(23-25) Charlotte Bobca 27 38 27 35 - 127 (Billy Knight 26)
(13-34) St Louis Spirit 35 35 21 26 - 117 (Ed Wachter 21)
Spirits have definitely been on the rise (!) recently including a shock away win in the Garden over my beloved Knicks a few days back, but today they fall to another NBA fringe-playoff team in the Bobcats. Charlotte are very happy to bounce back and approach .500 ball, but it will take a few more wins like this to get them over the hump and predictions are it will take around 48 wins to get you in the playoffs on the NBA conference side.
(31-16) New York Rens 38 26 29 18 - 111 (Charles Barkley 24)
(18-30) Texas Chaparral 29 23 28 28 - 108 (Derrick Rose 26)
The Rens have been around the top of the ABA all year and return again today with a great away win over the new-look and yet still tough Texas Chaps. Difficult to beat the Chaps at home when Rose is on fire (is he ever not on fire? oh yes, sadly when he's injured). It took a whole lot of Chuckles to take down the reigning ABA champs.
(19-27) Chicago Crusade 40 24 18 41 - 123 (Spencer Haywood 20)
(22-25) Carolina Cougar 33 35 30 39 - 137 (Patrick Ewing 26)
Cougars get the much needed win to stay in the picture and approach that all-important .500 mark. Ewing led the way for the home town Cougars with his 26 and former Chap, Knick, Packers Spencer led the fight for the runner up Crusaders, along with young Monta Ellis and his hot shooting style!
That's all folks :)
