If you've already checked the website you may have seen the scores - Adam got over excited and sent in Tuesday's games on Monday (even in NZ!) so we were running ahead of schedule for a little bit. Why was he so excited? Could it be the resurgent Packers or the dominance of his own Lakers? Perhaps the number of away wins chalked up today? No? Perhaps it was the mild-mannered janitor?
No it was the record breaking beat-down... was it your team?

When does Rick Barry come back anyway...
(16-10) Anderson Packer 28 26 34 34 - 122 (Paul Pierce 31)
(17- 9) Washington Gene 21 25 22 29 - 97 (Dwyane Wade 25)
It feels as if Anderson and Washington are moving in entirely different direction despite their similar records. The Generals don't feel like a team that has only lost 9 games this season, despite the stellar play of DWade. Anderson have a solid and stacked team and the Truth (Paul Pierce is a dick let's be honest...) doesn't disappoint today with 31. The Packers are now on a six game win-streak and look dangerous. The Generals have lost their mojo and need to regroup. Away teams 1 for 1.
(21- 6) LA Lakers 27 30 43 35 - 135 (Tim Duncan 38)
( 7-20) St Louis Spirit 30 29 35 24 - 118 (Mark Aguirre 25)
The Lakers are indeed dominant and with this win they move to the top record in the UBAS (like they had in season one and shared in season 2 with the Knicks incidentally). Solid win on the road against the disappointing Spirits who don't seem to have much of their name in them right now. I like Mark Aguirre, but Tony wouldn't trade him early on, just seems a waste on a 7 win club right now - how about gifting him to your old point guard Tony? No? Okay fair enough, at least he'll have plenty of space to operate on the Spirits roster this year. Duncan was dominant with a big double double that places him top 10 today and that was all she wrote. Away teams 2 for 2.
(14-12) San Diego Sails 31 23 33 21 - 108 (Al Jefferson 24)
( 6-22) Texas Chaparral 36 28 13 25 - 102 (Jim Paxson 23)
The Chaps have not been quite the pushover that their paltry six wins portrays them as and again they push the ABA pre-season favourite Sails to the brink before big Al Jefferson and his San Diego crew inflict the damage in a decisive 3rd quarter to push the lead out to double figures. Tony and his young guns have to be happy with the way the home team responded though with a steady fight back that saw them pull within 3 behind DRose's floater in the lane, before a couple of late buckets by a relatively quiet Hakeem sealed the deal. Away teams 3 for 3.
(14-13) New Orleans Hor 34 32 31 15 - 112 (Walt Bellamy 22)
(15-12) New York Knicks 14 27 26 36 - 103 (Bobby McDermott 21)
See, I don't think there's anything worse for a basketball scribe than having to write up your own team's losses - especially at home against similarly rated teams (and ones you've recently traded with). Top scorer for the Knicks today was Bobby McDermott who learned after the game that he was going to be shipped out to a contender? More on that to follow... Good game by Bells as he rematches against A-Train like he has in the past two seasons' Finals; Artis today limps out with 6 quick ones as Bosh and Walt threw themselves at the hole. Cousy was top 10 defensive but has gone off the boil offensively and the Knicks have struggled when he is not playing well... Great win for the Hornets though and Bosh in particular to hit top 10 for the day. Away teams 4 for 4.
(12-16) Sheboygan Redsk 27 32 22 30 - 111 (LeBron James 30)
(14-12) Indianapolis Ka 24 20 26 27 - 97 (Alex Groza 27)
You have to class this one as an upset; the Kautsky's are a tough team especially on home turf, but today they struggle to put the ball in the hole and the Redskins take full advantage behind Lebron's 30. Away teams 5 for 5...
(17-10) Philadelphia Sp 38 18 25 21 - 102 (David Thompson 32)
(18- 8) Hawaii Chiefs 29 13 22 21 - 85 (Elton Brand 18)
In a day where the home teams have struggled a bit so far, this counts as an upset, the Sphas are a good outfit sitting pretty at 17-10 but the Chiefs played so soft at home that they were booed at half time by their normally faithful fans. Elton Brand had 18 points but very few rebounds... and that was the story of the game Lucas almost outrebounded the entire Chiefs outfit in the first half and they were massively outplayed on the glass all night. DT scored as he does but Lucas was the real story destroying the Chiefs' big men. The Chiefs still hold a solid 18-8 record but this one will not sit well with Kik Snr.
If you're counting at this point that's SIX straight away wins today - will it ever end?
YES - EMPHATICALLY!!
(15-12) LA Stars 22 27 27 22 - 98 (Shaquille O'Neal 23)
(21- 6) Milwaukee Bucks 43 40 42 34 - 159 (Anfernee Hardaway 28)
Shaq and the Stars have been looking pretty good this season but when they arrived in Milwaukee they weren't expecting an easy game... but no-one was expecting this type of blow out. A whip-lash reaction to a recent slump (can a 21-6 team be in a slump?) was a 61... yes SIXTY ONE point lambasting that was so one sided that the refs asked the Bucks to ease back the pressure defense. Penny was number 2 on hotshots for those taking notes, but this was brutal and a record margin of victory for UBAS basketball, the Bucks are for real folks. Being as away teams were 6 for 6 today until this point, how about we call it a tie?
(14-14) Charlotte Bobca 25 29 26 30 - 110 (Glen Rice 22)
(15-11) Harlem Globetro 31 38 34 30 - 133 (Joe Fulks 34)
Harlem wins every day I writeup it seems and Joe Fulks has been real good recently and teams up with Grant Hill today to dispatch the Bobcats with relative ease. Pooh joins the other two in hotshots as they play a near perfect game to delight the home town fans.
( 8-19) Golden State Wa 27 30 31 32 - 120 (Sidney Moncrief 29)
( 5-23) Wilkes-Barre Ba 30 23 23 20 - 96 (Karl Malone 28)
Is Golden State waking up? It seems Kwame's teams always like to start slow, but surely this is slow even for them? A good win today on the road again, but the Barons are a fairly soft opponent right now so maybe it's too early to tell if the Doc has turned a corner. Sid the Squid is player of the day and again impresses with his ridiculously efficient game and 29 points of just 14 shots. And yes 7 of the 9 games today go to away teams thanks to the Warriors finale.
