It's either level or 2-0 right now. Game one went to the home team in a couple of relatively straight forward matches compared to the semis, what about game 2? Can Wilt find a way to through a spanner into the Rockets? Can Kobe find a way to get an edge on his childhood hero Jerry West?
Injuries:
Wilt... Nah just kidding Kwame, no new injuries for a change!
( 0- 2) HARLEM 26 21 27 26 - 100 (Wilt Chamberlain 23)
( 2- 0) HOUSTON 33 21 29 29 - 112 (Karl Malone 22)
Houston knows better than to count this one as in the bag, but they're certainly happy to take care of business at home as Wilt has been a huge disruptive force through the first couple of rounds, especially on the road. Karl Malone has been awesome all season and all playoffs and it just continues in that vein today. Problem for Harlem is that behind the Mailman is the most incredibly stacked team in UBAL history with Stockton and Robinson highlighting today (double doubles) and Bynum one board off a double double too. All this with a Drexler bad game really does spell trouble for anyone who meets the machine. Wilt today was an assist shy of a triple double and is still far and away the best player in the league... Somehow that just may not be enough... Time for the good doctor to dig deep...
( 0- 2) SAN DIEGO 27 27 26 23 - 103 (Alex English 23)
( 2- 0) DALLAS 36 26 35 31 - 128 (Bob Pettit 36)
Domination from Dallas from the opening tip as English split the defence for a lay-in for what looked more like a drill than a tough finals matchup. Kobe and English played a reasonable game for the Qs but where was the toughness we saw in the last couple of rounds? Dallas got the number one seed for a reason; mostly due to the great pairing of West and Pettit. Bob fouled out today but not before notching a huge double double and leaving the Qs looking for new motivation. Mavs can't be too complacent yet, followers of the Qs have seen the runs (both good and bad) that the team has put on so far this year...
So home domination in games two - will the trend continue or will both the RENs and Qs be scratching their heads at the holes they find themselves in?
