Campy Russell 2 (Food Poisoning)
Zach Randolph 2 (Shoulder Ligament Sprain)
Day 68 and no significant injuries today by my reckoning, sorry if I dissed one of yours who you value ;)
Another day another trade or two for my Utah team; by way of explanation I've not suddenly caught the infamous Trader Tony bug that was the fashion a couple of seasons back, but I do believe it isn't working then change it. Actually I've always wondered why GMs don't do this more in these leagues and swore if need be I'd be prepared to pull apart the team and give up on a year for the sake of long term, this year I tried to load up, it didn't work so I got to put my money where my mouth was hence the trades. Every trade from TMac on was to get a little better next year and hopefully I've achieved that for the Stars, though in leagues this good it's hard to tell.
Anyway, you can agree or disagree but just remember if it ain't broke don't fix it implies some times you gotta make a move..
(21-15) KENTUCKY 31 36 22 25 - 114 (Dominique Wilkins 30)
(13-21) DETROIT 27 25 34 29 - 115 (Chris Paul 27)
Kentucky made a great move when they brought in Wilkins, he's a great scorer that completes their puzzle, but even with his 30 today it wasn't enough to overturn a determined CP3 at home in Detroit. This one went to the wire with Mitch Richmond nailing the midrange buzzer beater to the delight of the home town faithful. Great lines by both Paul and Nique and top defensive rating by Kareem in a losing effort.
(25-11) BOSTON 32 30 24 18 - 104 (Al Jefferson 26)
(26- 8) CHICAGO 24 38 30 30 - 122 (Rick Barry 34)
Chicago have been eerily quiet this year as far as trades go and Tony is a guy who definitely trades if and when he needs to. In other words Chicago have real title aspirations. Boston are pretty good too.. But not good enough today at Chicago. Rick Barry is putting a great season together, Magic definitely helps!
(20-15) MEMPHIS 27 36 35 26 - 124 (Tracy McGrady 27)
( 4-31) ST. LOUIS 26 23 29 26 - 104 (Ed Macauley 25)
Poor St Louis can't keep a win streak this season and they're no match for a Memphis team helped by the addition of TMac and his microwave offence. Four wins as we near the mid point of the season sucks pretty bad.
(21-13) INDIANA 29 31 29 22 - 111 (George Gervin 39)
(13-22) PORTLAND 25 27 29 22 - 103 (Walter Davis 20)
Indiana continues to notch up quality wins, today on the road in Portland. Ice Man was on fire(?) today with 39 points on a smouldering 75% from the field. Indy is not sitting pat and after the game Stephen Curry and Willie Wise pack their bags for Utah to be replaced by Paul Pierce and Alvan Adams; does this make them number one in the ABA or do Oakland, San Diego or Dallas have a say in the matter? ..and does it matter anyway with the NBA so strong?
(25-11) DALLAS 22 33 23 29 - 107 (Rich Kelley 17)
(18-17) MINNESOTA 30 34 20 22 - 106 (Roy Hibbert 17)
Game of the day today and another buzzer beater! Minnesota tries to keep their hopes alive, but that great start seems to be fading as this home loss drops then to a single game above .500. Dallas hasn't got huge press this season but they have one of the best records in the ABA and are having a standout season. Payton, West, Kelley and Pettit, what's not to like? Could they be the team to come out of the ABA?
(11-25) NEW JERSEY 19 30 25 22 - 96 (Lou Hudson 22)
(29- 6) HOUSTON 34 29 35 26 - 124 (Karl Malone 32)
Houston is a machine. Karl Malone in my opinion is the best player in the UBAL this year (I couldn't get Adam to trade him for KG or Olajawon, I haven't bothered offering Shaq yet). Jersey isn't terribly good but the Hawk is always good value for money.
(16-18) PHOENIX 18 27 23 20 - 88 (Steve Nash 23)
(12-25) PITTSBURGH 31 27 23 26 - 107 (Ron Harper 20)
The Suns run at .500 hits a bump courtesy of Pittsburgh. Nash looks rejuvenated this year and is playing well but Harper is playing equally well for the home team and today leads them to an easy victory. Pittsburgh is one of those up and down teams that look good some games and then horrible in others.
( 4-30) SAN ANTONIO 30 23 26 25 - 104 (Archie Clark 17)
(15-21) WASHINGTON 30 37 30 30 - 127 (Gail Goodrich 23)
No win number 5 yet for the Spurs, next season can't come soon enough. The Generals get win number 15 but right now that won't get them near the playoffs. Some nice pieces in Washington and with Jason Kidd they can move up, but far enough? I think I mentioned earlier that 4 wins sucks pretty bad...
(21-14) SYRACUSE 35 27 29 22 - 113 (Oscar Robertson 26)
(18-16) ROCHESTER 30 25 26 24 - 105 (Bob Cousy 26)
Cooz is on his fourth home this year and today shows his offensive ability in a losing effort as Rochester can't quite get the win over pesky Syracuse. Oscar matches him with points and that useful Lebron guy chips in some support. Good road win as the Nationals are starting to look good.
